Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to file an application for seeking information under the Right to Information Act, 2005. I am a concerned citizen and student of Jamia Millia Islamia, pursuing M.Com distance mode, batch 2020-22. It has come to my notice that the final year exams for the aforementioned course have been delayed for about a year, and students have been facing numerous difficulties due to the same.

As per the norms, exams were to be conducted by June 2022. But, it got delayed and the university issued a new academic calendar. As per the new academic calendar issued by the Centre for Distance and Online Education, JMI on 28 April 2022, the tentative date of exams was December 2022. However, it is now May 2023, and there is still no notification regarding the conduction of exams. This delay has resulted in a loss of an academic year for the students, and several of them are not eligible to apply for government jobs due to the lack of necessary qualifications.

University authorities were repeatedly inquired about the status of the exams by concerned students, and on every occasion, they verbally/or through WhatsApp assured that the exams will be held in the near future. However, no official notification was released regarding the same in writing.

In light of the aforementioned concerns, I request you to provide information regarding the following:

1. The reasons behind the delay of final year exams for M.Com distance mode, batch 2020-22, despite the university conducting exams for regular courses on time.

2. Exact date sheet of the conduction of exams for the aforementioned course, and the mode through which the university plans to conduct the exams.

3. The measures planned by the university to compensate the students for the loss of an academic year due to delayed exams.

4. The reason behind the absence of communication from the university regarding the conduction of exams.

As per the Right to Information Act, 2005, I request you to provide the information requested as soon as possible.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Yours faithfully.
