Speaking to the PHD Chamber of Commerce on 26 November 2016, the Minister of Law Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the government acted on the Reserve Bank of India's recommendation in withdrawing Rs1,000 and Rs500 notes from circulation.
With respect to the above, please provide a clear photocopy or printout of the RBI's recommendation received by the Ministry of Law, as well as copies of any other documents that show the date when the Law Minister first received the RBI recommendation on currency withdrawal. If the Law Minister did not himself receive the recommendation, provide documentation indicating when he was made aware of such a recommendation.
Finally, please provide clear copies of documents containing the Law Ministrie's evaluation and advise on the withdrawal of currency.
